The new year for our family has brought a realization that the time on Earth is very short. Wether we live to be 102 or just 2 it is never long enough.
As the new year came we were crushed with news that my cousin Tyson Johnson had passed away, at the young age of 23. He will be missed and the times that we enjoyed will be remembered. Almost the same week, we were informed that a close family friend had also passed away, again close to the same age. That was a lot to take.
My mom and dad were both put into ICU in Pullman and have now returned home, but these incidents in my life were as if someone pushed the pause Button to simply let me take a minute to look at what is valued in my life. We will never know when it's over, but when it is, it is.
My family had a closer to home loss happen yesterday that is not as great a loss as a child or family member, but as you become attached to your family pets it is amazing how much it hurts, and I had to stop and realize you can not put a price tag on anything in life.
We were blessed to have Shasta in our life for almost a year and to "enjoy" the puppy stage and into her loving and cuddly life. Shasta was a friend to our family, she had just began to be the dog that doesn't cost you a lot of damage money.
People come and go, but the spirits and memories never leave.
I just had to stop and look at what life means to me, and yes a dog can have great value in your life.
